1935
Shri. Narahar Damodar Sarpotdar (Nanasaheb) started the Poona Guest House along with his wife, Shrimati Saraswati Narahar Sarpotdar. We was also a writer, director and an actor in Prabhat Films at that time.
1937
Shri. Narahar Damodar Sarpotdar (Nanasaheb) started the first outstation branch of Poona Guest House at Matheran and Mahabaleshwar – prominent hill stations in Maharashtra. This was yet another bold initiative to make authentic Maharashtrian food available in such eco friendly areas.
1940
Shrimati Saraswati Narahar Sarpotdar along with eldest son, Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar (fondly known as Bandopant) made PGH an exclusive place for boarding and serving Maharashtrian cuisine.
1945
Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar started PGH outside catering for the first time.
1949
Poona Guest House was now serving more than 4000 tiffins daily along with serving 3500+ meals daily to residents and visitors in Pune.
1950
Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar was invited to cater at the Congress Adhiveshan, Nashik by Hon. Shri. Yashwantrao Chavan. This was the first biggest political catering by PGH with over 50000 guests.
1953
Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar was asked to cater to the Indian Parliament, New Delhi by Hon. Kakasaheb Gadgil on Hon. Jawarharlal Nehru’s invitation. PGH also started a canteen at South Avenue, New Delhi in the same year.
1957
Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar started a new branch of PGH at Saraswati Marg, Karol Baugh, New Delhi for lodging and boarding. Saraswati Marg (Road) was named after Shrimati Saraswati Narahar Sarpotdar and it still remains a well known street.
1960
Poona Guest House, started bulk distribution of packaged sweets/faral on the occasion of Diwali/Deepavali and Poran Poli for Holi every year in the capital. Shrimati Vijayalakshmi Anant Sarpotdar was fondly called as ‘Annapurna’ due to the same.
1961
Shrimati Saraswati Narahar Sarpotdar and Shri. Charudatta Narahar Sarpotdar (4th son of Shri. Nanasaheb Sarpotdar) provided free food from PGH for almost 6 months to the victims of the 12th July 1961, disastrous flood of Pune.
1963
Shri. Anant Narahar Sarpotdar started another branch of Poona Guest House at Gurudwara Road, New Delhi.
1966
Poona Guest House started a new initiative, Delhi Darwaja to promote Indian culture, drama, cinema, Ganesh festival and also give a platform to budding artists in the Indian capital.
1967
Poona Guest House started a ladies hostel in Pune. This was the brain child of Shrimati Saraswati Narahar Sarpotdar which was appreciated by the entire city and state as an initiative that was bold and progressive.
1970
Shri. Gajanan Narahar Sarpotdar (3rd son of Shri. Nanasaheb Sarpotdar), started a new initiative by Poona Guest House known as “food on wheels” or “tiffiny” in Pune. A popular concept now, it was way ahead of its time so took a lot of efforts to promote and build this platform.
2015
Shri. Kishor Charudatta Sarpotdar (third generation of Sarpotdar family) started a new branch of Poona Guest House on Fergusson Road, Pune.
2018
Shri. Sanat Kishor Sarpotdar (Fourth generation of Sarpotdar family) started a new initiative of Poona Guest House called PGH express at Pavillion Mall, Pune.
2021
Shri. Sanat Kishor Sarpotdar added a new branch of PGH express at Zapurza (a prominent and popular cultural hub for Maharashtrian Art), Pune.
2022
Shri. Sanat Kishor Sarpotdar added a new branch of PGH express at Balewadi High Street (the most popular location of leading IT companies), Pune.
2023
PGH is acknowledged by the Post Office of India and with a custom PGH envelope.
PGH also launches its own website for the first time!
